Every piece of legendary hunting gear starts with a problem. Ours started at 11,000 feet, on a freezing ridge in the high country, with a crosswind howling at 40 miles per hour.
We had spent days tracking a trophy bull. When the moment finally came to step up to the rifle, the adrenaline was slamming, the heart was pounding, and the cheap, shaky aluminum tripod we carried up the mountain flexed under the weight of the rifle chassis. The crosshairs danced. The shot wasn’t taken. The bull vanished.
That was the turning point. We realized that in the western backcountry, “good enough” gear will cost you a trophy.
We looked at the market. On one hand, you had heavy, plastic-filled retail tripods that wobbled at the slightest breeze. On the other hand, you had legacy support brands charging upwards of $1,000+ just for a name tag.
We didn’t want a camera tripod painted green. We wanted a purpose-built, combat-rigid, lightweight weapon-stabilization platform designed specifically for hunters who push their limits.
So, we built Shapakine.

A tripod legs shouldn’t twist when holding a heavy magnum caliber or a high-magnification spotting scope. Shapakine utilizes a proprietary multi-layer, cross-weave carbon fiber tube engineering process. By optimizing the carbon matrix, we achieved a strength-to-weight ratio that eliminates micro-vibrations without breaking your back on a 10-mile pack-in.

Hunting doesn’t happen in a sterile studio. It happens in grit, mud, freezing rain, and granite rocks. That’s why we integrated a seamless Arca-Swiss interface into our premium fluid heads, allowing hunters to go from glassing with binoculars to locking in a rifle in a split second. Our heavy-duty, 350 lbs rated steel QD (Quick Detach) sling flush cups are built directly into the apex, creating an integrated carry-to-shoot ecosystem.
